Project: Passport Scotch
Client: Chivas Brother Ltd
Passport Scotch has been produced in Scotland since 1965 and has a large market share in South America, it is also one of the largest growing spirit brands worldwide. This shoot was to launch the rebranding of the packaging and supporting collateral imagery.
The key elements were to showcase the new bottle and carton design with it’s brighter modern packaging, updated coats of arms and new master crest.
Three key visuals were required one of which one had to incorporate the new artwork in some form and numerous packaging, mood and detail shots to round off what would take over a month to shoot and retouch.
Photographing whisky bottles has many challenges including representing the correct colour of the whisky or bottle which sometimes has to be tweaked in post. This can prove especially challenging with coloured bottles as in this case where the whisky colour can dramatically change the colour of the glass. This made it especially challenging as the bottle’s label was very intricate and transparent in many areas showing the undisered colour coming through.
Some sympathetic flare effects were added on in post production to add an element of drama and focus onto the product, enhancing the overall impact of the images.
